Single Storey Side Extensions
Much the same as a single-storey rear extension sometimes these do not require planning approval but consideration must be given to where you are looking to add a side extension on to your house. These are sometimes more restrictive as you would have to consider your neighbour’s dwelling (if you have one) and where the Highway is, and in most cases planning permission is required.
Side extensions can be a superb way to add additional space to your house which often uses land that is dead space. The advantages of a side extension are that you can normally build right up to your boundary to maximise the space available, providing you meet certain criteria of course.
